Course Description:The course focuses on annual, perennial forage plants which are of particular importance for Cyprus and the Mediterraneanarea as well as the wild and cultivated aromatic and medicinal plants. For each plant species topics covered include: botanical characteristics,methods of cultivation, yields, nutritional value, extraction of valuable ingredients, robust metabolites and biological activity in humans andanimals. Crop prospective of aromatic and medicinal plants in the context of sustainable and conventional farming. Distilleries and technologiesfor plant extracts and essential oils. Essential oils uses and properties. Includes lectures and study visits.
