Course Title : Weed Science

Course Description:Introduction to weed science. Definitions and basic concepts. Competition between crops and weeds. Weeds and theirimpact on crops. Critical weed thresholds for economic damage to crops. Morphology, taxonomy, identification, physiology and bio-ecology ofthe most important weeds affecting major crops in Cyprus. Weed management with mechanical and chemical methods, biological control,genetic engineering (plant resistant to herbicides) and integrated weed management (IWM). The course includes lectures and lab practical’s.
